Israel's blockade on Gaza, the closing of the Rafah crossing into Egypt and the destruction of the tunnels have made life in Gaza unbearable. Our friends in Gaza and human rights
organizations report that Gaza now suffers from:
Severe shortages in food and drinking water ● Electricity
shortage and power outages up to 16 hours a day ● Shortage in construction
supplies ● Alarming unemployment and poverty rates ● Almost no movement in and
out of Gaza People in Gaza live in inhumane conditions in the largest prison in the world. There is NO justification for collective
punishment. This is a cruel and immoral policy.
The blockade also harms Israeli security It
deepens the hatred of the Gazans toward Israel, it encourages violent political
radicalism and it leads to acts of vengeance and terror against innocent
citizens. Harming individuals is only one form of terror! Harming an entire civilian population is also
an act of terror!
We, members of Other Voice, residents of the
communities near the Gaza border, call upon world leaders to put pressure on
the Israeli government to end the blockade and to
create opportunities so that we all can live in safety and dignity. What can you do? 1.
